Jolomo Awards exhibition at Abertay University
Scotland’s largest art prize, the Jolomo Bank of Scotland Awards, is putting work by its most recent winners on show at a new Abertay University exhibition this Friday (21 February). Dawnne McGeachy won the £25,000 prize last year for her dramatic paintings of waves and fishing boats, with runners-up Ruth Nicol winning £6,000 for her paintings of Leith in winter, and Amy Dennis winning £4,000 for her surreal, dream-like landscapes of Edinburgh. The show includes new work by the winners and shortlisted artists from the 2013 Awards. It also includes a selection of work from The Jolomo Awards archive, donated by previously shortlisted artists and winners, which is being shown for the very first time. The show runs from Friday 21 February – Fri 7 March 2014, 10am-5pm, in the Hannah Maclure Centre gallery on the top floor of Abertay University’s Student Centre, Bell Street, Dundee.
