Newly appointed Artistic Director Andrew Panton maked his debut appearance when he unveiled the Dundee Rep and Scottish Dance Theatre new season this weekend at an exciting immersive event. More than 200 guests from Dundee and beyond attended the season launch at The Rep on Saturday, with a bold and ambitious rebrand for the theatre also being revealed. The entire venue was transformed to create a promenade theatre experience with cast members performing excerpts from shows featured in the new season across the venue, including backstage areas not usually accessible to the audience. Renowned director Andrew begins his first season directing the award-winning Ensemble in the Scottish premiere of August: Osage County by Tracy Letts. Winner of the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and Tony Award for Best Play. Eve Jamieson will then direct the Ensemble in psychological thriller The Maids as two maids visualise dark and destructive scenarios to eliminate their mistress. Meanwhile, Scottish Dance Theatre opens its season with Damien Jalet’s critically acclaimed YAMA. Created with the dancers of Scottish Dance Theatre, this awe-inspiring piece explores the mythology associated with mountains inspired by the pagan and animist rituals practised among the mountains of Tohoku, Japan.
